eForecast Files Patent Application for Adaptive Carbon-Aware Control Technology

Jan 2026

eForecast Ltd today announced that it has filed a patent application in Ireland covering its adaptive carbon-aware control technology, representing a significant milestone in the company’s technical and intellectual property development.

The patent application protects systems and methods designed to enable electrical loads to intelligently optimise their electricity consumption based on electricity system carbon intensity and renewable energy availability. By enabling electrical loads to automatically respond to changing grid conditions, the technology supports reduced carbon emissions and improved alignment between electricity demand and renewable generation.

This development builds on earlier work in carbon intensity forecasting and demand optimisation, advancing the company’s approach toward automated control of electrical loads. The patent filing establishes priority for international intellectual property protection and forms a key component of the company’s strategy to develop and commercialise proprietary energy optimisation technology.

eForecast’s adaptive carbon-aware control systems are designed to support a wide range of applications, including electric vehicle charging optimisation, energy management systems, and distributed energy resource platforms. As electricity systems continue to transition toward higher levels of renewable generation, intelligent optimisation of electrical demand is expected to play an increasingly important role in supporting grid efficiency and emissions reduction.

“This patent filing represents an important step in eForecast’s development and reflects the technical progress achieved since the company’s formation,” said the company’s founder. “Protecting our intellectual property is essential to enabling future commercialisation and supporting the development of technologies that facilitate the transition to lower-carbon electricity systems.”

eForecast was founded in Ireland in 2022 and focuses on developing software systems that enable adaptive optimisation of electricity consumption in response to carbon intensity and renewable energy availability. The company is now focused on protecting and commercialising its intellectual property and exploring opportunities for international deployment and licensing of its technology.

Exciting Announcement

July 2024

eForecast Ltd today announced progress in the development of its internal system architecture to support adaptive carbon-aware control of electrical power consumption, marking an important step in the evolution of the company’s technology.

Building on its earlier work in carbon intensity forecasting and demand optimisation, eForecast has been developing system-level control capabilities designed to enable electrical loads to automatically adjust their operation in response to electricity system carbon intensity and renewable generation availability.

This development represents a transition from forecasting and user decision-support toward automated optimisation, where electrical loads can intelligently respond to changing electricity system conditions without requiring manual intervention. The approach is intended to support reduced carbon emissions and improved utilisation of renewable energy resources.

The system architecture under development focuses on enabling integration with electrical loads and energy management systems, providing a foundation for scalable deployment across applications such as electric vehicle charging, distributed energy resources, and intelligent load control platforms.

This work forms part of eForecast’s broader technology roadmap and ongoing efforts to develop proprietary intellectual property supporting adaptive carbon-aware control of electrical power consumption.

eForecast was founded in Ireland in 2022 and was recognised as the Irish national winner of the ClimateLaunchpad competition. The company continues to focus on advancing technologies that support the transition to lower-carbon electricity systems.
